Birding Tours in the Democratic Republic of Congo
DRC's birding pairs forest and savanna extremes. The Okapi Wildlife Reserve in the Ituri rainforest holds forest species alongside the reserve's namesake okapi, while Salonga National Park's vast rainforest wetlands — rich in avifauna and home to bonobos — are best accessed via Kinshasa or Kananga.
In the savanna north-east, Garamba National Park offers birding beside Kordofan giraffes and elephants, and Upemba National Park's wetlands, with more than 80 lakes, hold strong waterbird potential.
